Scott, your points are well taken. I think you are right, Congress does not know how to back down and thus will continue down the impeachment pathway. Maybe a possible option would be to handcuff Bill to Hillary until the end of his term............

All in all this is a tremendous gift to the Democrat year 2000 election hopes. It is very likely that the economy and stock market will have a downturn in 1999. To be able to blame it on the Republican led impeachment rather than the Democrats get blamed for it is a gift they could not buy for themselves.

I can just see the ads now: "The Democrats under Bill Clinton led the economy and stock market to new highs. The sour grapes Republicans demanded impeachment over a petty affair and the resulting gridlock started an economic slide which continues even today. Vote Democratic, vote for a return to the good economic times of 1998."

When it appears that impeachment is certain, short everything. But if they back down to censure, look out for a renewed bull run short term.
