Real often when the 34 and shorter term 8 converge there is some explosive movement.

I also just started looking at 30 tick on 30 and 10 minute charts on the March S&P. The inscribed line is like a wall, preventing motion above the average.

I don't have any prior experience with that one, but the 8, 34 always seemed to provide a clue concerning short, near term action. When the 55 converged with the 8 and 34 very often a 6 to 9 point move ensued within a few bars.....all on the 5 minute chart I usually look at with that series, anyway.
