Annette,

It would be IMO a very good thing if more non lawyers were elected to public office representing a wide variety of professions and trades.
As it stands now the majority of congressmen and senators are lawyers.

I can understand your disapproval of Clinton's behavior. But this type of behavior is common among congressmen, senators and Presidents. It is also common in the general population. Jerry Springer is making a good living off this kind of behavior.

My understanding is that both Barr and Hyde were involved in extramarital affairs with married women. In Barr's case this supposedly resulted in a child. In Mary Bono's case the rumor is she was having an affair with her Karate instructor and Sonny was on Cocaine. If you looked closely into the lives of the other members of the Judiciary committee, I would not be suprised to find that 70% of them have similar sexual misconduct issues to hide. They are being hypocritical in their criticism and censure of Clinton.

The rule of law argument is specious in many ways. First the law may or may not be moral. Second, congressmen make the laws and their morals are no better than the general population from which they are drawn. Third, in the case of Clinton the Republican's seek to deny him his constitutional rights by limiting and impeding his ability to defend himself. Fourth, they have taken the legal issue of perjury and
morphed into a moral issue. Lawyers are trained to think in legalistic ways that most people would find alien. They also are taught to win at any cost. Usually justice is found outside of the court room and not in it.

In any event the key issue for DELL is performance not what is going on in Washington.
