JM, here's a snip from yesterday on what one fund manager is doing with WCOM. Seems like a good plan, if you have that kind of money to invest.

"The Game's Not Over Yet

By James J. Cramer

Ugly tape, but does that mean the game is over? I find the declines to be a bit exaggerated by the unwillingness of people to step up and the relentless selling by foreign accounts, many of whom think that our government is as weak as it was in 1973-74, when the president was a dead duck and the market was crumbling regularly.

I am quietly buying down the stocks I like using a wide scale. For example, as much as I love MCI WorldCom (WCOM:Nasdaq), I am not oblivious to the selling, and I don't know when it is going to end. I think the fundamentals at WorldCom are very strong, but the stock has had a big run. So, I am buying 5,000 shares every point down, which will give me a nice-sized position if the market keeps going lower but will not leave me with a humongo position at $63 if the market brings the stock down to $58 or $57.

This kind of buying is a tacit admission of humility. I don't know when the market will turn, but I like the intermediate prospects of the market (maybe not today, tomorrow or even this week, but the rest of the month seems fine to me), and I don't want to give up on establishing positions into weakness...."

"Anyone else get the feeling that wcom has reached the top of its trading range for the near term? "

Don't worry....Over the last couple of weeks, WCOM ran up pretty good.
It's healthy for a stock to establish a base for awhile. This company is a growth machine. I just bought more the other day when it fell a couple of points. I think we will see 100+ next year. IMO.
Needless to say, I am LONG WCOM.
