> Personally, I think that Michael T Currie, a Geophysicist with British Petroleum in London, highlighted what could be an huge window of opportunity for Financial Intranet, when he mentioned the enormous impact of eighteen months use of a newly installed INTRANET by BP on company efficiency and productivity and, get this: This is an Intranet without Video and possibly audio. Imagine the possibilities. > If Financial Intranet can devise an overlay of any such Intranet with what they claim to be their unique video and audio product mix, they could have more business than they will ever know how to handle. If one of the most advanced Oil giants in the world doesn't have a total solution, how many hundreds of thousands of other companies are bereft of this kind of technology. Thanks very much, Wiz.. The BP intranet has a little bit of video and no audio of which I am aware. It is at this stage fundamentally an excellent database of still graphics. We do have a separate desktop VT capabilty which works very well in its own right. After spending time with a multitude of other international oil majors, I guarantee you that BP's system is as good as any and far better than most. And yet, it is quite crude (pun intended) in comparison with what FNTN says they will be offering. I wonder if any of us really recognises the significance of what is being promised here? Efficiency of communications is tremendously valuable. The companies that will prosper on a global basis in the future must have a fast, reliable, cost effective way of communicating via video. I expect FNTN to have a piece of that action. You will note that I place caveats such as 'says they will be offering' throughout any message that I post. We have yet to see evidence that the claimed capabilities are in effect. One further thought: Any company looking to enter this arena will have to devise a way for clients to produce their own content quickly and easily. There is no way that efficiency can be maintained if they must go out of house to use the system on an as needed basis. I would suspect that this means contracting to write a fairly sophisticated bit of software for video production and transmission that both provides basic functions and is customisable. An simple (minded?) analogy might be some of the very full featured MIDI programs that we are seeing these days. Mike
