Enots,
From current issue of Recycling Manager..............

METAL

PRICE FIRMNESS MARKED the ferrous scrap sector for December, as several months of sagging values came to an end. Speculation abounded that a turnaround is imminent as shredded scrap prices rose about $7 a ton in one reported mill purchase of 10,000 tons. Tags for other grades were said to be sideways, indicating the depressed market appeared to have found a bottom. Offsetting the cause for cheer, however, was the dismal state of U.S. steelmaking, which is being hammered by imports. Aluminum used beverage cans (UBCs) gained strength, up 2 or 3 cents a pound. Can sheet mills were said to be especially hungry for UBCs after having run down inventories.

Maybe we've seen the bottom!

Regards,
Tim
