I have to wonder what kind of model they are using on AMZN. I bought a few books there to begin with, but using shop bots I have found there is always somewhere cheaper. And as for movies REEL.com is ALWAYS the cheapest (Monty Python's life of Bryan- 6.99)- so WHO exactly is going to spend all their money at AMZN- the high price leader? It isn't like shopping at Rodeo Drive where part of the stupid price is being seen shopping there and getting the nifty bag.

Jeff, Having just conducted a search on Amazon that yielded nothing and getting exactly what I wanted on Barnes and Noble.com, I'd say those projections, especially as to profit, are downright silly.

In fact, a price war is already starting. Simply put, AMZN doesn't have the best price around. U can buy DVDs at www.shopping.com for $12.99 and Top 40 CDs for $8.99. Some of the other sites offer more products lines than AMZN.

It will soon become clear that there is really little barrier to entry for on-line retailers.
