cgraham - you don't seriously believe that the only lying he's done was about Lewinski, do you?

This is getting a bit tiresome to keep repeating, but lying is not an event - it is a behavioral trait. No one can trust him, or should trust him if he has a personal stake in an issue - his behavior is that of the sociopath who will do nearly anything to avoid losing face. Add a law degree and a quick mind and you have a situation where the person puts himself or herself above everyone else. Lying becomes OK because it is OK for the sociopath to make judgements counter to the law if he or she views the law as not applicable.

You're making the assumption that the Senate is going to remove him from office - I hardly think so. The trial may find him guilty, but the penalty will probably be a censure with his fate handed to criminal trials post-term.

As for Iraq - Saddam has played the administration like fools for years. It's like a teacher hollering through the window at the playground bully to be nice then turning away and closing it instead of making the bully pay some penalty for wrongdoing. No penalty, no change in behavior.

Sounds familiar, eh?

Mr. K.

<<He IS paying for it everyday, don't you see that? >>
We all struggle with our particular situations every day.

<<And what good will it do to have us impeach the guy and ruin US and World confidence?>>

I have asked the staunch supporters on this thread many times what it is about bill clinton that they believe is worthy of their devotion. The only answers I get have to do with their fears of the far right wing republicans. Sorry but it doesn't sound like confidence to me. Not wanting to struggle through a time of instability is one thing, confidence in bill clinton is another. It is the office of Presidency that we are responsible for more than bill clintons livelyhood.

<<Where will that put us with the tenuous situation with Iraq?>>

We wouldn't be in such a tenuous situation if Saddam Hussein didn't see us as wishy washy and weak kneed. I'm surprised bc didn't pick another aspirin factory in an innocent and helpless country to bomb.

<<Haven't you ever made a business decison? He lied about sex, not about the budget, not about public policy, but sex. I don't feel he should be thown out and our country put into a tailspin because of it.>>

This is an issue of truth, not sex. It is about justice for all not just the select or elect. Our country has stood for the principles of truth and justice for some time. If the citizenry weren't willing to experience the discomfort and temporary instability of cleaning house, we would still have slavery as an accepted institution and Nixon would probably be king by now. When we as a nation agree not to fight with every resource we have for a constitution and form of government that is designed principly to establish truth and justice for its citizenry, then it will be time to redefine the "American Way."

<<Though I do feel there are civil matters to be brought against him after his term is complete>>

Me too. They can't all be lying. This guy is corrupt at so many levels it is frightening. You could never guess it looking at his charming smile and listening to his silky smooth tonge. Of course he's betting we are to dependant and afraid of change to stop supporting him while he continues to do a very good job of lying to our faces.
