Jon,

You've hit on an article I'm going to write next week on Year 2000 investing strategies - not the software companies, but more general ideas. Broadly defined, I am looking for strategies that benefit from people preparing for Y2K.

For example, a friend of mine is going to have $3,000 cash on hand just in case. There has got to be an investment implication of millions of people doing this.

I'll check out the electricity futures contracts - I saw in Barron's that interest rate futures contracts were already predicting an increase in interest rates over the date change.
