Care to comment on writable CD's and removable HDD's?

I would never buy an external SCSI removable disk though.

Why? I had six internal SCSI 3 1/2 in MO drives fail after about a year. The drives in the office environment failed first and the drives in the boat about six months later.

I asked around and the best I came up with was heat. The boat is a cooler environment than the office.

I have SCSI cards on all my machines and just plug an external MO SCSI drive into a machine if I want to transfer data and the network is down or the machine is not on a network. I like it because I do not have to configure anything..just plug it in and it works. ( I use Adaptec SCSI cards) I have never had a problem with the external HP SCSI MO drives.
