Dale, I also doubt that Linux will be a threat to NT on the desktop. The distribution channels are too entrenched, the software availability too large, and NT's superiour desktop design are advantages Linux will be hard pressed to match. The NT kernel design is actually very good for a desktop OS, integrating the gui API's into the kernel is very efficient, more so than the Unix layering approach.
