They probably said, or meant to say, that the BID never reached your offer of 7 5/8 so that your order did not execute. They cannot come back two days later and decide you don't own the stock, no, as long as your sell order was a day order which would then cancel at the end of that trading day.

If your order was a GTC, good till canceled, order, then it would be triggered as soon as the BID reached your OFFER.
