I know that I'm being hard on Clinton. He cannot control what Sadaam does over in Iraq. I just thought that the odds of us NEEDING to launch a military strike the day before the impeachment vote was pretty high. I guess the point that Sadaam timed this perfectly thinking we would be too busy to notice him is a valid point. Maybe we should have gone the extra mile during the gulf war to crush Sadaam's military force completely so we wouldn't need to be dealing with this again now. I don't know.

I get the sense, Abdul Haq, that you once liked BC, maybe even voted for him, maybe even believed his denials about Monica and the "vast righwing conspiracy" spin, and maybe went out of your way to speak out for him, and then felt so betrayed when his lies became apparent that you now hate his guts. Am I correct?

My suggestion is that you never, ever trust any word a politician says. It's my experience that you shouldn't trust anyone in business or politics until they've PERSONALLY won your respect.

I've never liked BC, and I've never trusted him. I didn't believe one word about Monica from the get-go. I didn't really care whether he was lying about it or not.

But for political and legal/constitutional reasons, I oppose impeaching/removing him. Legalistically, I don't think perjury under oath in a civil deposition rises to the level of an impeachable offense. All of his crimes stem from that. The whole thing sounds more like an episode of Three's Company than a chapter out of All the President's Men. This partisan crusade will set an awful precedent.

I'm much, much more upset about "Gulf War II," as the media has labeled it, than BC's attempts at covering up a sexual affair. Draw up an article of impeachment regarding Iraq and push it through both houses. That would set a great precedent. I'll write Congressman Luis Guiterrez and Senators Dick Durbin and Peter Fitzgerald urging them to support it. Just I like I urged people not to vote for Senator Carol Mosley-Braun because of her little tryst with that murderous Sani Abacha of Nigeria.

Politically, I dislike many of Clinton's enemies more than I dislike him, and don't want those enemies to score a victory. I don't want to see him impeached by the likes of Tom DeLay and Gary Bauer. If there were more Democrats on board, I could swallow the notion that this wan't in large part some Holy War by the religious rightwing extremists.
