Tom,
You and John are really funny.
In no order:
As for using this thread to communicate at the speed of the internet and John's comment about taking three months to respond... It feels like it takes three months to wade through another thread, such as cpq, so by posting here Tom has actually saved me 3 months x 3 virtual months which = $400,000 viutual connect dollars!

As for Tom being concerned with "superfluous banter" on this thread, I almost split a gut!!!!! This is the only thread where trash talking is missed!!!! Besides, what else is this thread good for???

And Jitterbug Perfume was the perfect book to read in response to my question about Mr. Gates. Microsoft looks like it will live forever, no matter what Netscape, the DOJ, Sun etc.... try to do, and it always comes up smelling like a ..... beet. (Do you think Bill does his hair to stay in power??)

Now you must fall 'Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas' while you read Tom Robbins' latest (that I know of) book.

Oh yeah, I've been so busy I've barely touched SI for a while, but keep posting anything, especially Tom Robbins and Oakland Raider news, but also any tips on long shot, great technology but poor execution stock (like DEC was).

gd

Tom,

great move on your part on those CPQ shares (I think). Sure was a gift price being that it hit a new low in October

I think that it has now become obvious that selling CPQ into that big run up in the fall was a good move. If the run-up hadn't happened, I probably would still be holding this one... after I sold CPQ it ran up to over $50 and I was kicking myself in the a**, but today my timing doesn't look so bad.

One thing I've learned is that you can't beat yourself up too much over a sell decision. After all, you are really balancing between the mistake of selling too soon (and potentially missing more profits) and the mistake of holding too long (thereby failing to lock in profits).

My condolences to whoever now owns my CPQ shares.

not that silly things like earnings and functional products matter in this market <g>.

Looks like things have changed, and earnings somehow matter all of a sudden (at least for CPQ). Compaq has made another low - how much lower will it go?

Regards,
John Sladek
