Keith:

I had a report from a store manager that in central Florida, Sprint had the 1900 Q's in. (as of 12/15, but no 'announcement') I did not bother to drive over and check them out.

I bought an 800 Q from Atlanta, sure would have liked to take advantage of the price differential USWest offered. :-(

Keith, as a very recent purchaser of a Q phone, I can guess why Q and Sprint haven't been keeping the advertising petal to the metal: they don't have enough phones. The good news is that in SF Bay Area, most of the major Sprint PCS stores finally have an inventory on hand. The bad news is that this situation just resolved itself in the last week, i.e., the trucks just dropped off their stuff recently. We missed a few prime weeks for sure, but demand, based on my completely unscientific survey, seems red hot.
We are now a two cell phone house and I will provide Consumer Reports bulletins on a timely basis. My first observation is that the little Q phone doesn't seem to pack quite the signal strength punch that the 2700 model does. I assume its because of the teeny-weeny [advanced technical term] battery in the Q phone. Surfette reports more dropped calls than Surfer M. by a big margin. Surfer M. thinks the 2700 is the cat's P.J.'s although when he called his bud on his bud's car phone, the bud says his has voice activation so he says "Call Monica" and the Kremlin answers without so much as touching a dial pad. Imagine my chagrin! When, pray tell, will the Mighty Q offer voice activation? Thank God I nailed him with Short Messaging, but I'm only hanging in by a thread. SM

Keith: Q is again available at Sprint in Milwaukee area as of yesterday. Only dual mode were the QCP 2700 and a new model from Sanyo.
