Mary- Saddam found the cleavage and wants to exploit this window of opportunity- he has been able to break the coalition as Russia from some news have asked the army to be prepared- just now I saw Lott who was so confusing on CNN - he said that his views in 1990 about US kids under fire in Gulf and democratic reluctance are no different then what is now happening under a democratic President, but his criticism is on timing why now? or what next- now that US has taken the first step of weakening the underpinning of Saddam the republican guards the next step more logical would be that some of the in cover of this bombing may start a peoples revolution in Iraq.. the chained people of Iraq may stand for freedom.. I will not like to take the slightest chance of that by starting a domestic infighting on aims and removal of a commander in chief whose army is under action..

I don't think that from any angle whatever you may define impeachment process when US soldiers are engaged in action will help the situation, this action will not weaken Saddam it will strengthen him- that is exactly what he wants divide US so far the people are 75% in favor and that is how this evil menace has to be confronted.. Iraq invaded Iran and continued the fight for full nine years amidst nine years of this festive season of Ramadan- This media frenzy on bringing ramadan in I just don't understand did Iraq and Iran the two front line Islamic states ever respected this holy month when they were sending their young kids to war fronts.. The timetable is self imposed the dictators have no religion only palaces and huge country landscapes like 'killing fields' where their own people.

I don't think Helm or others senior ranking leaders of republicans want it that way but impeachment they want may be worried that Clinton might have a secret plan to stir rebellion in Iraqi hinterland... why don't they give him few days just for US sake just for the sake of US commander in chief not becoming a laughing stock in the world- How can this be defined as a patriotic gesture- some lines need not to be crossed and this is a line which I think is being crossed with serious implications for coalition for sanctions and for US role as global power.. Domestic divisive policies will be a gift on a platter I cannot make any sense out of it and I am no Us citizens form whichever side I look this partisan approach is a self destruct button which rightists tend to use very often..

I think that Saddam miscalculated the resolve of President Clinton if he had nothing to loose, he failed to understand that Clinton has also nothing to loose, two nothing to loose guys on the loose this time it is Saddam the street fighter against a man who is fighting desperately to make some kind of mark for future.

For history if he flushes out Clinton will be remembered not as a second President to be impeached by the house, but the president who by skillful means was able to change odds in his favor. I don't think this is just the end of a small campaign this a beginning of an end- for a dictator Saddam.
