Not sure I understand your point here. "System on a chip" is also, IMO, an overblown story. RDRAM is the bulk memory in a PC, and the probable sucessor to SDRAM today (DDR and SLDRAM are also competing). Are you suggesting that commodity DRAM will be placed in the MPU and chipset? That's a stretch for me.
