Jack:

Did you see any break down of future costs in the profit projections? I* plans to replace 10% (6 sats, three or more launches) per year, and at some point will start up with second generation satellites. G* and ICO will be on line by 2002, did they take into account these systems also? Just wondering...

On your comment about service being unavailable in Cuba and Libya. How does your geography effect a handset/satellite exchange? Perhaps you meant they dont have local telecos to add costs and bill you.

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind elaborating: Who's your service provider, and who pays for calls you receive on an Iridium phone? And is it at the same rates?

FWIW, the Space News article provided rate info for two US service providers: BearCom and Earth One Network

Do you know how the dual mode will work with different celluar providers? i.e. a cell phone in the US won't work in Europe due to incompatible cell systems. Will the I* or G* phone be able to overcome that obstacle or is it an inherrant factor built in by the various celluar providers?
