Perry,

Thanks for posting on this thread. When I started reviewing the proposals submitted to the ITU I was struck by how incomplete the ETSI UTRA W-CDMA proposal was compared to the CDMA-2000 proposal. For instance, they mention looking at the use of Turbo codes but had not yet implemented them. Instead they employ a concatenated Reed-Solomon/convolutional coding scheme which is not exactly state of the art. You know that the ETSI and others would have us believe that W-CDMA is technically superior to anything else extant. But I find otherwise when I compare the details of the proposals. What do the operators...service providers think? What do their technical people say about the relative merits of the two proposals?

Regards

Walt

Perry, sounds like the U.S. will have to put 100% tariffs on EU (Ericy et al.) products. How would Ericy like to have NO United States market left?

Mr. LaForge,

Remember that the total royalties for GSM are very high. I might provide you guys with an independent analysis on the issue if I get clearance from the European author.

I know at least one individual who would kindly host the report for this forum if it could not be posted at the CDG website.

Cheers,
Greg B.
