Dems didn't want to take their chances cross-examining the "fact" witnesses

There were no "fact" witnesses. There was Ken Starr who presented an edited selection of facts, and under cross examination had to admit that most were contradicted by most of the witnesses. He seemed to cleverly forget any evidence in the President's favor.

All other witnesses were barred from the show trial by partisan votes.
