Speaking of local exchange carriers, keep an eye on Covad Communications. Re co-locating, AOL's battle is an interesting one. As for the Telecom Act rules, there are rumblings from Sen. McCain and others along the lines of amending the statute to make it simpler for the RBOCs to join the LD fray. DCI will be long gone before that one's resolved. ggg.

Sillen, you are very knowledgible and make good points. The only thing I would add is that RBOCs like bell atlantic are trying to merge with companies like GTE that have CLECs and LD businesses. Could get interesting if the trend continues and the RBOCs start going into the lower tier telcos. Perhaps buy DCI, especially to get into Europe fast.
