OT re DCI -- Look for GTE to spin off its other, non-business lines, e.g., defense-oriented systems biz (how's that for professional jargon - ggg). My guess is in the next 10-12 weeks, if not sooner. Lockheed? Loral? Could be a lucrative place to park DCI profits, assuming the end game happens in time.

I agree it would make sense for say Bellsouth or Bell Atlantic to buy DCI in order to get into the European market, something that is bound to happen.

The 14 point checklist that the RBOCs have to comply with is for Intra-LATA long-distance (RBOC's region of operation) something I didn't make clear in my previous post. As long as the acquired LD company doesn't do business within the same region of operation as the RBOC everything is dandy.

GTE, Bellsouth, Level 3 or IXC; it doesn't matter to me...show me the money!
