My opinion on the future of ads is

that they cannot become very intrusive, even with broadband. TV commercials are the definition of intrusive. Sitting there watching Seinfeld and they show you the ad. You can't do anything about it other that change the channel. You must come back however, to see the rest of Seinfeld, which is why most people don't do it. If you are looking for information, chat, etc on Yahoo, and they start peppering you with a bunch of crap, they will lose you as a customer, because one of the other free services will choose a different strategy with less intrusive ads. Have you ever been pissed off using Netcenter when they send you a separate ad in another window. You have to close the window, etc. Networks with proprietary content can advertise, conduits for commodity information can't.

Guru.

Thanks JB

You do have a point there. Broadband connectivity may spell a different era although I confess not having thoughts the effects thru in an meaningful way. In his earlier posts MadDog had made some comments how the text based world of today may change into a more visual and picture based world of tomorrw. Just like TVs were source of entertainment initially, then CNN changed the world, internet will have the same paradigm shift as innovation pushes boundaries of usefulness. And someone may start awards for internet ads as well...

I just bought some at todays high....but its all relative, for tomorrow it will be higher. Just as their revenues will be higher too. I plan to buy more in the coming days.
