Qualcomm

Mark A. Roberts of Everen Securities says Qulacomm, the telecommunications superstar, deserves the firm's highest (1) rating for both the intermediate term (zero to six months) and long term (six to eighteen months).

The surge in Qualcomm's code division multiple access technology will continue and will outstrip competition, but nonetheless, the stock trades at a discount to peer companies, Robert says.

He looks for earnings per share of $2.51 in 1999 (up from his prior forecast of $2.17), $3.38 in 2000 (up from his prior $3.25) and $4.73 in 2001.

The analyst expects Qualcomm's wireless technology will expand at 51 percent a year over the next five years-the fastest rate among companies competing in the market.
