Thanks for the post, Jeff. Regarding Cuba and Libya: Iridium satellite software is configured to block calls from these locales out of deference to the U.S. State Department; we do not enjoy diplomatic relations with these countries. The loss of use of IRIDIUM phones there should not be a major issue with subscribers, and hardly limits the phone system's utility, in my opinion.

The research reports you refer to do have the complete expense numbers in them, but I really don't want to be the source of accounting information for this board; I'll leave that to others who understand and enjoy the intricacies of spreadsheet analysis - anyone game?

The IRIDIUM handset costs a bit over $3000 for the dual mode model, not $2000 as you stated. Is it expensive? I don't believe so, given its utility. This phone was never intended for the casual user, though. And given the sharp escalation of Globalstar cost ($700 million resulting from the Zenit situation alone), it is not assured that their end-user cost will be significantly less than IRIDIUM's.

Thanks again, Jeff, and Happy Holidays!

Regards,

Jack Morgan
