All,

I have two questions? Is there not a definitive period of time (20 days) before you are allowed to "short" an IPO? Is there also not a period of time (quite period) during which the analyst can not write an opinion on an IPO?

I was told these are SEC rules and I would appreciate some feedback if anyone knows the actual facts.

Thanks,

Steve Davis

Did you come up with any answers to Tom Pope's two minute ARCA market order? His post describing his experience was post #2832.

Kimberly
I see during the last week that there was not much action on the MB Trading thread. Did you come up with any answers to the questions that I had in my post 2930, pasted below:

"It is this kind of facts and trails of unassailable evidence that shred malicious slanders
into pieces." by Kimberly Lee, post 2893

Kimberly, for someone with your trading experience I am surprised that you did not
look more carefully at Putnam's detailed explanation as did some other traders before
you made your post. Also I do not know why you consider his post unassailable
evidence?

These points were brought to my attention:

1. Why were the first two attempts made to market makers, when apparently the Island ECN was consistently there with the market makers when each initial attempt to market maker 1 and market maker 2 was made?

2. The 7/8th fill at Redi should not have been a surprise because the stock than printed
25. One question, is why was the limit ever raised? Why did it not stay at 3/4 where it
was at the last market maker? Didn't Island still have size at 3/4?

3. Arca has a major flaw if on "three" different occasions it cannot fill against Island.
Statistically that is very strange. Also, less than a 1 second turn around time for each
Island attempt? Are you sure that Arca generated a realistic limit price for each of its
Island attempts (i.e. was not off 1/16th or 1/8th). This brings up the question of
competition. As I stated in prior posts, it is not in the best interests of the principals of
ARCA to have the #1 ECN, Island, ranked by November volume to
Nasdaqtrader.com to do their business. How can Putnam and Townsend be principals
of the Archipelago/Terra Nova ECN and then be principals in an ARCA order system
that is going to be "impartial" to where trades are directed?

4. You seem to be well informed. Is Southwest having problems as a clearing firm. This newsgroup was brought to my attention, one that I had not seen before. Most of the focus is on MBTrading's problems with Southwest.
elitetrader.com.

I truly appreciate everyone's private posts and am grateful for your support. I was
interested in watching Globex S&P 500 action at this time of the night given the
impeachment, day after a triple witching, and end of the war, but so far tonight it was a
minimal range.
