Dear Steve: Well, to detect if its transmission problems I believe that you could put it in each different gear and bring the tachometer up to the same revolutions as the speed you notice it in 4th gear. If not happening in other gears at same engine speed (not miles per hour) then likely not transmission problem. BUT, I am not a mechanic merely guessing. Any possability it is only a transmission mount problem?? JDN
