That's a pretty oracular analysis, Les. Clinton can resign if he wants, though I'd hesitate to advise that without some deal to call off the dogs on Gore. Of course, everybody, and particularly Fred Thompson, knows that only Democrats have problems with campaign financing. Republicans have all the money, though.

As to the market rally, maybe it has something to do with the massive backpedaling by Senators not entirely pleased with the hot potato being tossed their way. Or maybe it has nothing to do with any of this. Anyway, it'll all be forgotten about in a month, right?
