Dinesh, yes DRP (Distribution Resource Planning) is a part of SCM. Thats what you meant right? SCM is kind of an amalgamation of all kinds of distribution stuff - transportation is another one.

Thats one of the problems with SCM as I see it, it encompasses too much of the order cycle. Youve got the demand planner at the front end demand stage, all the way out to DRP and transportation. WMS' (warehouse management sys) are not a part of SCM however.

Both I2 and Manu have made misc acquisitions of both vertical mkt stuff (demand planning specifically for semis etc) and horizontal mkt stuff (transportation) and because of this vast product mix they both spend a fair amt of resources on integration into the suite.

Of course psft has always had that problem too and it didnt impede their growth.
