nscp was cheap (relatively), had a strong website, and excellent servers that will be marketed through an arrangement with sunw. I have no doubt aol will use netscape as their browser eventually, but for the short term, they exercised a contract extension with msft.

To go after the business market. Besides, the Netscape deal is not finalized, and there is no reason to alienate MSFT for the sake of a browser.
