PanAmerican Interactive - Videophones Merv Rosenfeld from PanAmerican Interactive called me this evening and explained the videophones concept. The videophones are not just videophones that you can buy at a store. They are interactive which is unique to the industry. It is a "Cyber Phone" and "Computer Phone". The software is off of a server. Both parties using the videophone will see the same computer screen and changes by either party will be immediately shown to the other party using the videophone. Mortgages will be processed from beginning to end in a matter of minutes. If the applicant is not computer savvy, he or she can answer the questions over the telephone. Otherwise, the keyboard may be used to answer questions. Another application of the videophone will be for doctors' billings and other medical office functions that will increase efficiency tremendously. The company is exploring many other uses of the videophone and expect a substantial revenue stream when they come online in 1999.
