TLC implicitly admitted that its business plan
was flawed by selling out to Mattel. It ran out
of companies to acquire... and therefore looked
for a suitor who needed to take a few big one
time charges for a few Q's to hide bad results.

I guess in retrospect, the lone short on this
thread will have been "more right" about the true
value of TLC than the herd of bulls. Of course the
bulls were right about the direction the stock
would go (i.e., up), and that's what's important
if you were long! but fundamentally, I think alot
of longs on this thread (including myself) should
feel both betrayed (if you really believe in the
long's rethoric) and relieved (in view of the fact
TLC protected the downside on its stock by being
acquired). It could've been pretty ugly a few
Q's down the road for TLC. By the way, to use an
overused word: I see no synergy whatsoever between
TLC and MAT.
