Sal - What do you think Netscape has done that's innovative? [serious question] Fairly market a popular product to most (all?) available OS flavors. Open a commercially viable product to OSS. There's two that I can think of off the top of my head. -justinb

What do you think Netscape has done that's innovative? The Web Top - using the desktop as a navigator that combines views of local and remote (Internet) resources. Outsourcing of applications via the web through the Personal Netcenter. Technology that allows companies to extend their information systems and services to the outside world via Extranets (I believe we invented that word) through integrating web technologies via LDAP-based Workflow, E-Commerce and other Internet and web technologies and services. All of this from a company that is only 4 1/2 years old. MSFT has been around for over 20 years, and has produced less innovation than any other company, especially when considering the length of time that it has been around and the amount of resources that it has, monetarily and personnel-wise.
