Melissa and Dinesh Sap is in the dog house now just like everybody else. Sap stock was artificially depressed last year because they werent public on any US exchange. When they finally came out here things were just beginning to slow... I think they went public on the NYSE at around 55? They are 35 today and fell today in this tremendous bull mkt we are having.

Really I think companies like @Home are just better here.

If you have to play enterprise software, Oracle is (surprisingly) gaining momentum with the 8i product which enables some of the distributed apps processing that could be good I think. Also Sebl is a great company... I dont know when psft will recover. Itwo is good but they are getting ahead of themselves price-wise.

Still, I prefer @Home or an internet play in the near term (even though I still own some of these but not accumulating more)

Michelle

All good points Melissa.

I think you are right, that the whole sector has slowed down, but
the basic technology of PSFT vs SAP , it's SAP that comes out ahead.

PSFT's technology is crap, with it's "dynamic" SQL, and it's ridiculously "chatty" network traffic..

Why is that important ?

Because you cannot deploy PeopleSoft SW over WAN's, as it brings them down ! 1 SQL Query, and it sends about 22 data requests to the server.

It's NOT rel client server, i.e. Client processing and EFFICIENT Backend processing. It's client dumbness and extremely INEFFICIENT
dynamic sorta-SQL queries, dynamically created, and NOT even stored for the next user who comes along !!

Ex: Give me a search for all employees in New York
User 1 sends query, query dynamically assembled (YECH!), and 22 data queries sent to server, executed by server and results sent back.

LOTS of TRAFFIC.

User 2, 5 minutes later comes along, asks the same thing. Since NOTHING is permanent with this dynamic crap, EVERYTHING is RECREATED.

Crap Technology
Crap Stock...

And the bird (i.e turkey) is is being roasted... <smile>

Take care
