Is it possible that all the central banks could settle for cash instead of gold? If one hedge fund is allowed to do it, why can't they all, especially if covering with gold will really rattle the markets. If central banks have kept the gold in the first place (in essence having bought back the gold from the lendee at the time of the loan), the banks would still have their gold and their money back with interest? Yes? No? Is it possible to determine how many CB's have actually loaned physical goal (someone backs up the truck and hauls away gold, so to speak) and how many keep the gold and loan it as a paper transaction?

<<The only question is when CBs will realize their folly, or, if there's a large scale conspiracy afoot, and I think this likely, when it becomes too politically expensive to continue the subterfuge.>>
Thank Gawd! Someone else can say the word "conspiracy" and "gold" in the same phrase. without the word "not" attached. When I first brought up that idea months ago most said I was nuts - crazy.
8000-14000 oz of lies. Glad you are here!

Bob - if this scenario is correct - there is a huge potential for someone to profit - but I can't figure who has the financial muscle to do it - presuming it needs very strong and consistent buying to scare the shorts into covering. It has been suggested that one hedge fund settled in cash - and this may be true. In general what change will be required fro lenders to call back their loans, or to make lease rates so unattractive that the borrowers will want to pay back their gold? WE may have a situation that can go on for years. Of course huge buying by many individuals could be generated by some form of financial panic - maybe this is what it will take.

The hedge funds do now own the gold - most of it has been sold - some of it fabricated into jewelry. E
