Let's see, AOL 546.5 before IDTI 12.875 ?

Hmmm... So if next year IDTI earns 20 cents (way optimistic) and
manages to claim a P/E of, say what Vitesse has today (67 fat chance),
IDTI would then be a double from here.

Meanwhile AOL could earn $1.65 and even if its P/E drifts down from
current 455 to a mere 333, AOL would be an easy quadruple. Market
cap would still be below a quarter trillion, nowhere near other
household names like General Electric. And AOL only has a few hundred
million shares out; not the billion and a half float we see at Cisco
for instance.

All the analysts certainly agree. I see a preponderance of
Strong Buys for AOL, while IDTI garners mostly courteous "Holds".

You won't get any takers for that sucker bet Dave. ; )

But I still won't swap my IDTI for AOL, because I'm terribly afraid
of heights...
Which is why I'll be forever groveling down here in the mud.

Hi David, Glad things are well at the Tesorero residence. Yes, I had a fine Christmas and a prior visit to Ann Arbor to see my son and two grandsons. They do grow fast. I hope your new daughter settled down soon enough for you and your wife to get some sleep before Christmas. It should have been a great Yule season for all of you, and I wish you many memorable ones in the future.

As for me, I had a bit of trouble with one bad night when Len Perham invaded my dreams with long chains of 166MHz Winchips dangling from his slide rule. It turns out that WinTim was tiny enough, but slow as the Dickens. There's still the ghost of the Christmas future, in which millions of low power notebook computers made in Asia with IDTI microprocessors will descend like a plague on America and devour Dell.
That will happen about the same time I buy you your Big Mac and Pepsi, but the fat lady ain't sung yet. Regarding your proposed new bet, how about AOL doubling twice before IDTI halves!

Take care of yourself, and the best of New Years to you and all readers(are there still any?) of this thread. Sam

AOL doubles twice before IDTI doubles once

Well it was only December 27th when you offered that bet.
AOL was 136 5/8 (pre 2:1 split), and IDTI was 6 7/16.

Congratulations on AOL's first double of the year. I guess it's not
too late to sell out my IDTI and get in on AOL's second double,
expected shortly...
