Yes, I remember when CPQ had to pay that company/person who had already registered altavista. Grabbing domains with Dell in them, however, seems pretty low, a bit childish, for a company like Compaq [or other publicly traded companies, for that matter]. Anyway, I'm sure one of these days (or years) we'll find out.

CPQ plans on targeting storage business on all of it's competitors' servers - I know SUN is a big target of the storage guys in '99. With DELL announcing its foray into 'multi-vendor' (i.e. server-independent) storage. CPQ is poised to become the leader in multi-vendor storage and they have a big technology lead - they hold a lot of key patents. I think this is CPQ getting ready to hand DELL a lesson in economies of scale and enterprise distribution capability.
