I have been monitoring the Asia Forum from some time now and have been extremely impressed with the intelligence and insight of the various posts - particularly yours. I also hope to add some value to the thread in the future. If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend an article in the current issue of Foreign Affairs entitled "Saving America from the Coming Civil Wars" by Steven David of The Johns Hopkins University. It discusses the serious ramifications which could result from likely upheavals in a number of key states, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Mexico. Frightening.
