Well, I've done a bunch of reading and some figuring. The best I OEM sales next year is what STB did this year. I'm guessing that retail will improve somewhat (for STB, not overall for 3Dfx), but I'm not sure what the upgrade market will be like next year. In some ways, all those ATI chipsets in 1998 mean big retail V3 (and some V2) in 1999, but I'm not sure what to make of the embedded chipset sales. Do those motherboards have an AGP slot anyways, or do they just have PCI/ISA slots? The real benefit seems to be the relationships/infrastructure that STB has formed with OEMs. The only assets they have are short-term in nature. Their building in Juarez is a lease. Michael
