The latest Princeton Economic Institute study explores the possibility of a depression in Europe brought about by the levels of taxation in the EMU countries. It seems that Germany and France believe that the other countries should raise their taxes because the current lower taxes give them an unfair advantage over Germany and France. Apparently they plan to use EMU to force conformity.
