Because of the following: 1) Egghead has a proven track record of mediocrity. 2) Egghead is in terrible financial shape. 3) Egghead is so unfocused that it resorted to issuing press releases about how it was selling Christmas hams over the internet. 4) Egghead management has filed to sell boatloads of shares - at much lower prices. 5) Egghead has benefited by an unusually extreme internet stock bubble. Since it is among the lowest quality companies in the group, it will suffer the greatest when (not if) the internet gamblers run for the exits. 6) Egghead was driven out of the "bricks and mortar" business by CompUSA and CDW. It is also being driven out of the internet business by these same companies. As I said, the universe will come back into order. You can count on it.
