i would say this will be a good short tomorrow:

Wednesday December 30, 12:17 am Eastern Time
ADAC named in shareholder lawsuit
NEW YORK, Dec 29 (Reuters) - ADAC Laboratories has been named in a shareholder lawsuit for alleged violations of U.S. securities regulations, the shareholder's law firm said in a statement on Tuesday.

The lawsuit alleged the medical imaging and healthcare information systems provider made false and misleading statements concerning its financial results, artificially inflating its stock's price.

The shareholder filed the lawsuit, seeking class action status for the persons who purchased ADAC stock between Jan 10, 1996 and December 28, 1998, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

ADAC stock traded in a range of 30- and 15- during the proposed class action period. The stock fell 5- to 21- on the Nasdaq Stock Market on Tuesday after the company said it would restate past financial results.

Officials at the company were not immediately available to comment on the lawsuit.

The shareholder seeks damages and is represented by the law firm of Wolf Popper LLP

Anyone else short MZON? I got lucky and established a position at 47 1/8. Wondering when would be a good time to cover? I was hoping to wait until next year (at least Friday) for tax reasons.

Thanks,
Steve

As 1998 begins to disappear into the history books I thought it would be interesting to take a look back at 4 Wall Street market maven's predictions as aired on Wall $treet Week on January 2, 1998. Each person was asked to guess the Dow's high, low and close for the year, along with a few notational comments about the then year ahead. Although Ralph Acampora's pronouncements throughout the year moved the market more than anyone except Alan Greenspan, I will have to give him a subjective grade of "D" for his one-year lookahead at the Dow Averages.

Ralph Acampora - exciting.
High - 8600 - too much optimism.
Low - 6000 - 2nd half of year difficult - bear market.
Close - 7300 - earnings to impact 2nd half.
- interest rates lower (deflation).
Recommended 5 short sales NKE, PHG, TDW, TKC, B

Lazlo Birinyi - watch inflation, and recommended purchase of AAPL,
High - 10,250 BRK.b, MO, PFE, CAI,B
Low - 7800
Close - 9750 Subjective grade "B"

Robert Stoval - profits important this year.
High - 8972 - spotty earnings growth.
Low - 7472 - recommended OXHP, EK, BUS, SRM, UBNN
Close - 7972
Subjective grade "C-"

Julius Westheimer - the big money has been made.
High - 8545 - market's movement sideways.
Low - 6835 - watch interest rates and the baby boomers.
Close - 8345 - recommended T, BKB, CBS, TW,

Subjective grade "D+"

Gee, not one internet recommendation among the four. <gg>

To All: It has been a while since they were really ripe and plump but one of our favorite shorting sectors, the Year 2000 stocks, is starting to run. I noticed VIAS, Zitel, and ACLY all in the big gainers of the day. VIAS hitting 7 and Zitel briefly broaching the magic $5 mark. ACLY is up 30% right now on the news that their business is crumbling:

I am hoping 1999 will run them up big.
All the Best

Hey , where's the 99 picks ?!?!

After a weekend of being bombarded with Y2K "news"
it looks like Y2K hysteria might replace internut fever for
at least a little while....

I actually heard a newsbite that something like 1 out of 4
will stockpile food and take money out of the bank ???

As if that wasn't enough to worry about , it's deja vu all
over again > > drudgereport.com

Good luck to all in '99
