Marden,

Prior to the NT take-out, Lucent and Ericsson together represented 5-10% of Bay's sales. In the September quarter, that fell to 1-2% as both quickly pulled back selling the Bay gear. The same thing was echoed in some other Bay distributers who were aligned with Lucent and saw NT as a competitor. Now on the upside, there are also NT distributers, including NT itself and WilTel, that are just getting up to speed on the Bay equipment. CS found that out in its most recent quarter, when its substantial business with NT dried up.

The linkage between NN and Siemens is a bigger deal than Bay/LU/ERICY and more difficult for an acquirer to replicate, given Siemens awesome international presence.
