AMZN will likely be down again when the mkt opens. AOL was already down after mkt more than 3$, see news below.
Next Monday maybe the black Monday for AMZN as many have been waiting to delay their profits; and also with their additional two shares that they want to get rid off from split. imo.

Rally
(12/29/98, 4:40 p.m. ET)
By Kora McNaughton, TechWeb

Despite wide gains by some retailers announcing new
websites, technology stocks went nowhere Tuesday.
But the Dow Jones Industrial Average, powered by
blue-chips, leapt ahead.

The Dow soared 94.23 points to 9320.98 and the
Nasdaq eked out a 0.88 gain to end the day at
2181.18.

Telecommunications stocks were an exception to the
technology slump. WorldCom [WCOM] was the third
most actively traded stock on the Nasdaq, advancing 2
5/16 to 74 1/4, AT&T [T] added 4 3/16 to 78 13/16
and Sprint [FON] closed up 3/16 at 84 3/16.

Among local phone carriers, Bell Atlantic [BEL]
climbed 1 7/16 to 59 3/4, BellSouth [BLS] rose 2 1/4
to 48 1/2 and SBC [SBC] inched up 1/2 to 54 1/8.

Major names in Internet retailing were conspicuously
absent from the Nasdaq most actives list. Instead,
companies announcing plans to sell on the Web
attracted investors, with Value Vision [VVTV] adding 5
1/8 to 11 3/8, G-III Apparel [GIII] jumping 6 3/4 to 8
7/8 and SkyMall [SKYM] advancing 5 3/16 to 40 3/4.

But Amazon.com [AMZN] slid 19 5/8 to 332 5/16 and
CDnow [CDNW] fell 1 1/16 to 21 5/8. Online
auctioneer uBid [UBID] climbed 3 9/16 to 143 1/2.

Super-cap technology stocks lost ground. Intel [INTC],
which said it will cut prices on its processors next week,
fell 1 1/16 to 121 1/16, Dell [DELL] slipped 3/16 to 74
9/16 and Cisco [CSCO] closed down 11/16 at 93 1/2.
CS First Boston initiated coverage on Fore Systems
[FORE] with a buy rating, but the stock fell 2 13/16 to
15 7/8.

Synopsys [SNPS] lost 1/4 to 52 1/16 despite
Soundview Financial's initiation of coverage with a buy
rating.

In after-market trading on the New York Stock
Exchange, America Online [AOL] fell 3 1/4 to 154,
and Compaq [CPQ] lost 11/16 to 41 11/16. Cadence
Design [CDN] slipped 1/8 to 27 1/2 despite a buy
rating from Soundview.
