Basil regan

I tried (maybe it didn't post) to put up some info I picked up up on Basil Regan earlier today. I agree. This is not for the short term pop, but for good solid mid-term (2 years) appreciation. He is one sharp cookie who learned from the best: Saul Steinberg and Steve Weiss in the '80s. With the extremely large position he has picked up, I almost wonder if his partnership will try to take it over, take it private, and later spin it off publicly. This is the strategy that Hanson PLC and some others employ.

Very informative post regarding Basil Regan. I am curious regarding what effect Regan's extensive holdings have on HNV's float. The float is reported as 37.9 million shares, and Regan's holdings have been estimated to be as high as 36 million shares. Regan's "closely held" shares bought on the open market, in my view, should effectively reduce the float to less than 2 million. We all know it doesn't take much to really move a stock with such a small float. I wonder if that is what Basil R has in mind?

Thanks for the post. We have taken a position in HNV on an
intermediate to long term view based upon a number of factors. It
is encouraging when someone like Basil particpates consistently on
an averaging basis.
