Don't you have to hold the stock 3 days to actually "own it" through the settlement date ? I don't really know but that was my undersatanding. If not, we should be buying stocks the day they declare dividends to receive them. Glenn

Geerlings & Wade (GEER) 9 3/8 +2 1/8 (+29%): Wine retailer announces plans to revamp its web site, citing encouraging e-commerce results during the fourth quarter of 1998. And re psft I think you need to own the stock at the time of distribution and then sell the psft shares and keep the rest.

Sue, I think you have to be the stockholder of record on the distribution date. If you buy today, the seller will remain the stockholder of record until settlement.
