A 12 point rise in 2 days is pretty nice. A couple of observations:

-The optimism in the semiconductor market is fueling this drive. I would be a little worried though when some real numbers start appearing. Remember, ASMLF did warn about an earnings shortfall.

-Per the Dec. 4th post on this thread, the fundamentals may not improve much. It is encouraging that ASMLF is grabbing market share in Japan. The quality of ASMLF's product is also unmatched. However, with the Far East in a deep correction, revenues from this area will not add much to ASMLF's bottom line. On the other side, ASMLF will be in a great position when the Far East rebounds in the future.

-The technicals on this stock look interesting. Between July '98 and January '99, ASMLF appears to be forming a cup and handle chart (see CANSLIM thread). This pattern is typically bullish. However, this bullish pattern would be more promising with the stock making new highs.

I have been long this stock for over a year. I am thinking of taking advantage of this short term run up and wait for a possible correction when the real numbers are released. Any opinions?

-Al
