Comparison of group performance can also be made over other time periods. The one below is for a 2 year period. The close on 12/31/96 is compared to the close yesterday. One interesting product of the comparison is the group sum - they are essentially equal, or a 0 percent difference. Within the group, however, there is a very wide spread going from a gain of 145 percent for ASMLF to a loss of 88 percent for ASEC. The SOX-X is up 46 percent. 13 stocks are up for the period and 28 stocks are down. 19 stocks, including FSII, are down over 30 percent for the 2 year period. 4 stocks including ASMLF, VECO, ASYT and AMAT are up over 100 percent.
