Simple. AMD didn't expect Intel to come out with celeron 400 so early and so agressively....So, how is AMD going to compete??? By slashing prices of there top-of-the-line chip (K6-2 400)...Problem is, there goes your ASPs well under $100, and there goes your profitability.

So, where is the K6-2 450??? I don't think they'll come out with one. They will wait until K6-3, but from what I'm hearing, K6-3 400 will come out in Feb. and 450 a month after that. Bottom-line: AMD will get a serious butt-whipping this quarter from Intel with regards to ASPs, courtesy of Celeron 400.
