Bob,

I don't know how you can tell. I realize that the nets look similar. They should.

I am retraining existing nets and comparing verify periods. I am looking for pinpoint accuracy on the sell signals and fewer premature buy signals.

I just had a thought of what I think might be a relevant indicator to feed the nets. I don't know of a convenient place to get the data though. Imagine an indicator that was something like "analyst earnings expectations" or "whisper number" or even "average analyst rating" that changed over time for a given stock. The absolute value of this indicator or its rate of change might be useful for the nets, although it will probably change very slowly. These things do move the price of the stock however and it may allow the net to account for drops that it can't account for otherwise. Another one may be something like # of days before/after earnings release or analyst conference call.

Just a thought.

Bob,

You asked how to tell whether or not NeuroStock is using indicator data... The guys at NeuroStock tell me that Version 3 will display a relative strength index of all of the related stock inputs. This will be a great help in building networks... we will finally be able to tell which inputs are relevant without the guess work.

BTW, I use WilliamsR% and Stochastics for most networks. I built a Visual Basic program which can generate these indicators from any .CSV stock price data file.

Bob -

" ... seems to be performing pretty similar to nets that didn't have indicators."

Funny that you should say that. The nets I'm building with indicators seem to be different in character than the ones without. The ones using an indicator do a better job of staying on the right side of major moves, while ignoring bumps of a few days duration. They're not producing any better profit numbers, but the charts in the verification period pick up the major moves quite well.

Just another one of my subjective observations.....
